We are proud to have Tariq Zaid on the team of supporters at ‘Neu-Power Athletic Consulting’. Patricia met Tariq when she first moved to Staten Island and stopped to shop at his local boutique. From that day on Pat and Tariq became very close friends. Tariq is a huge role model and inspiration for his entire community and beyond.
He is a business owner, brand ambassador, and community leader in Staten Island, NY. He co- owns and operates Richmond Hood Co., a retail boutique and clothing brand based in Staten Island and online. Born and raised in Brooklyn, his early years were marred by the adversity and complexity of the state foster care system. He moved to Staten Island, residing in group homes there as a troubled youth. Tariq was fortunate to encounter counselors in those facilities who took notice of his creativity and potential. He credits those counselors with saving him from the path of destruction. As he grew into adulthood, he remained in Staten Island, woven now into the fabric of the borough. It was his desire to give back and to serve his community as a demonstration of his gratitude for the change in his life’s trajectory. Gifted with a magnetic personality, Tariq soon found himself among Staten Island’s elite. Introduced to the legendary Wu Tang Clan, Method Man and Redman, he became immersed in the city’s art and music subculture. The result was the emergence of his own unique blend of art, music, fashion, and prose that defines his brand today. His business employs local youth entering the fashion, retail and marketing industry. Within the past several years, he has risen to prominence as a community leader, organizing various art and music festivals in the borough he has adopted as his own. Van Duzer Days, an event that opens up city streets for a neighborhood block party. Sticky Situations, a sprawling street art competition. Coolin’ on Castleton, a sidewalk festival featuring local small business owners, artists, musicians, skaters, and local celebrities. This event in particular has helped raise awareness about the epidemic of opioid drug abuse that has plagued Staten Island in recent years. Tariq has been heralded by City Councilwoman Debi Rose, NY 1 television network, and other local media outlets for his community service efforts and his unwavering support of small businesses. Tariq contributes regularly, donating clothing and merchandise to local nonprofits, and lending his voice to raise awareness. He continues to build the Richmond Hood brand, developing more business alliances and representing Staten Island in the coolest possible ways in fashion, art and culture. Through his philanthropy and community service, Tariq is determined to continue giving back, lending a helping hand.
